in memory of

Donnita Craft

Donnita Faye “Donnie” Craft,  Also known As Mama D, was a 49 year old God, fearing woman, who passed away on August 10, 2011. Donnita Craft was a native of Maury County, Tennessee, raised in St. Louis Missouri and then a resident of East Baton Rouge Parish. She attended and graduated from University City High School in St. Louis, Missouri, where she was a majorette and softball player. She also attended Southern University Agricultural and Mechanical College where she was a member of the ROTC program and a Kappa Kappa Psi Sweetheart. Donnita worked at the Department of Justice, Attorney General’s Office. Donnita enjoyed playing softball, being a cheerleading coach and was a huge fan of football and track. Donnita was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church, where she participated in the chorus and combined choir and taught Sunday School and vacation bible school and was also a member of Istrouma Church. Donnita Craft was married to her now late U.S. Army husband, Willie Craft, where they had two children, Warren and Bryana Craft. Her children were her world and even her children’s friends were too.

She was the biggest supporter and cheerleader for her children’s sports events (basketball, football, baseball, track, gymnastic, dance and cheerleading). Donnita always found ways to give back to the community by doing community service with organizations, by just simply cooking food and baking for her neighborhood, her children’s sport teams, schools, for her church, or by just giving kids a roof over their head when they needed it. Donnita was a blessing to others in their time of need. Donnita Craft will be truly missed!
